Clarice Assad is a performer that should be heard by everyone who loves music. Her voice and piano are elegant, rhythmically inventive, technically masterful and joyous. There is no one who can sing and play like her. Clarice has been coming out to the Deer Head Inn since 2013 to play Brazilian classics with a rotating cast of local musicians. On this evening February 28, 2015, she is joined by percussionist, Keita Ogawa. They have worked together as a duo and with her group, Off the Cliff for several years. There is a telepathic connection when they play together. They perform as a duo on Ponta de Areia, the Jobim Medley, Aquarela do Brasil and Adeus America. These performances alone are worth the price of admission.Singer, Nancy joins Clarice for Vera Cruz and Corcovado. The contrast of their voices and the mixture of Portuguese and English lyrics add an interesting flavor. Nancy’s voice is as smooth as butter. Tenor Saxophonist, Adam Niewood, drummer, Bill Goodwin, bassist, Tony Marino and keyboardist, Richard Burton round the full band.
